Cymbopogon nardus – Citronella Grass Seeds

50 seeds per pack. A tropical perennial with a strong, distinctive citronella-like fragrance that naturally repels insects. Not edible, but commercially grown as a common source of citronella oil. Originating from tropical Asia, including Sri Lanka and South India, this grass grows in a large, clump-forming habit, reaching a height of 1.5-2.5 m / 5-8 feet. It’s identifiable by its purplish-red basal stems and grows best in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. In cold climates (below USDA Zone 10), it is typically grown as an annual or potted plant. #4947
